According to the American Music Therapy Association, “music therapy can be defined as the clinical and evidence-based use of music to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship. It involves using music to help people manage physical, emotional, or cognitive problems.“
At Recovery Coast, we offer a unique music therapy program as part of our holistic approach addiction treatment. We’ve seen the powerful theraputic effects of music in helping addicts break free from substance abuse.
About Our Music Therapy Program
Our clinical staff often recommends participation in our music therapy program for those clients who need alternative approaches or who have experienced other types of treatment programs with little success.
For those who choose to participate in our music therapy program, you’ll have scheduled time each week to learn musical skills with a professional musician in the presence of one of our clinical therapists.
The goal of music therapy at Recovery Coast is to help each participant explore their own creativity and tastes in a healthy environment, separated from the addictive sources of pleasure they’ve grown accustomed to.
